Pastor Isaac Edgerton was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. He is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and has a Bachelor of Music degree in Applied Percussion. He also continued his studies for ministry with the Teamwork Bible College.
In the community, Pastor Isaac was band director of Armstrong High School in the late 1980's and instructed high school marching percussionists in Virginia and North Carolina for over 30 years. He also adjudicated marching band and jazz band competitions in Central and Northern Virginia for over 25 years. In 2016 he was the head adjudicator for the first annual Jazz Band Invitational held at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, Virginia.
Pastor Isaac has performed with great jazz artists such as Ellis Marsalis and Steve Wilson. As a musician he has had the opportunity to travel extensively in the United States, Europe, and South Africa.
Pastor Isaac taught music privately in Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico and the city of Richmond for many years. He continues to be sought out as a music clinician in Henrico, Hanover, and King William County Public Schools.
Pastor Isaac has also educated students academically in both private and public-school systems in the Richmond area. He taught at the Abundant Life Christian Academy from 1987 to 1989. He began serving as a Substitute Teacher in Hanover County in 1996 and Henrico County in 2007. Since 2012, Pastor Isaac has served as an Instructional Assistant for Henrico County Public Schools. He is currently teaching at the Henrico Virtual Academy for the Henrico County Public Schools.
Serving as Director of Music and Arts at Abundant Life Church of Christ in Richmond, Virginia from 1989 to present has been "the best job in the world" according to Pastor Isaac. He is the founder of the ALCC Drum Corps in 1999 and Jazz Night in 2008.
Church leadership was instilled in Pastor Isaac at an early age. He has served on the Elder's board of Abundant Life since 1989. After a time of proving he received his ministerial license and Elder's license in 1999. In 2016, Pastor Isaac was placed into his current leadership role as the Assistant Pastor of ALCC. In 2021 he was led to launch an online ministry titled “Sound Check with Pastor Isaac” spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to all who have an ear to hear.
Pastor Isaac Edgerton was married to the late Elder Tonya F. Edgerton for 35 years, and together they were blessed with four sons and proud grandparents.
